Breaking Stereotypes - Amanda LaCount

Updated: May 22

How often have you deserted your dream because you felt you weren't the right type?

A few months ago, I did a TV presenting course. I love the glitz and glamour that comes with being a TV personality. And getting paid to travel and experience the magnificent world for free while doing what I love, can it get any better?

There were three other ladies in the course. Each had 'the look' for TV. Tall, attractive face with just the right make up, blinding white teeth, shiny hair ... you get the idea.

And the facilitator cooed and clucked over them, telling them how they were perfect for TV and how she was going to get them signed up. And there I sat doubting myself.

Can I not make it on TV because I don't have 'the look'?

And this is how many of us feel isn't it? We have a dream but because we don't fit into the stereotype, we convince ourselves that we can't have it and so we desert our dream.

Well if this is you, listen up.

Amanda LaCount is a well known hip hop dancer, choreographer, model, and influencer who does not fit the stereotype of being slim, sexy and attractive.
